Universal Positive Behavioral Support (Whole Group)

This page is for the Kansas and Oklahoma schools that work directly with Dr. Riffel. However, if you like anything on this page, please feel free to use for your own purposes. Note that much of this work is based on the work of the National Center; however, is not affiliated with the work of the national center.

The first level of support in SwPBIS is universal. While many people desire to start with the most challenging students, it is best to start with the overall framework of the school in order to develop a consistent environment and language common to the entire school. This decreases the number of students who will require secondary and tertiary support.

All SwPBIS is based on data-based decisions. Therefore, all schools are required to bring their data with them to all meetings and to share this data with the entire staff on a monthly basis. The SWIS program is highly recommended. www.swis.org is a program that makes data collection as easy as ABC. The cost is minimal and the dividend is huge. Instant graphs are at the administrator's and PBIS team's fingertips.
