Secondary School-wide Positive Behavioral Support (Targeted Group)

The second level of support provided by SwPBIS is for targeted groups of individuals who might need booster shots to make it through the day successfully when universal interventions do not work. A big part of secondary support is through a program called Check-In/Check-Out. For more information on Check-In/Check-Out please visit Dr. Leanne Hawken's website http://www.ed.utah.edu/users/leanne.hawken/bep.htm I highly recommend her book and DVD for the Behavior Education Program implementation.

I also recommend using the Student Teacher Rating Sheet which is a modification of the Check-In/Check-Out program where the students have to match the adult's score of their behavior rating. I feel this helps the student to see the behavior the same way the adult sees the behavior and ameliorates the change process more rapidly.

Classroom Management Techniques also come into play in the secondary support level of SwPBIS. I have several PowerPoints on Classroom Management.
