FBA Workbook
We cannot determine if
our interventions are successful if we do not know where we started.
The best
way to determine our starting baseline is by doing a functional
behavior assessment.
This page is dedicated
to FBAs and BIPs.
If you attended a session with
Dr. Riffel and you have lost your assignment for session two:

Remember most behaviors fall
into two categories:
Positive Reinforcement:
- access to:
- materials
- sensory input
*
- attention
Many people think "control" is
a function. There is no research indicating that this is a function.
If it helps you to think of it as "control of what they access
or escape" then that might help you make the transition.
Negative Reinforcement:
Escape from:
- work or activities
- people
- sensory
- pain
When we are working with our children who
have limited vocabularies it is very important to remember that
behaviors can be occurring because they need sensory input, need
to escape too much sensory, or they are in pain.
